“Chat with Parents” – A Meaningful Beginning to a Journey of Partnership

On the morning of July 6, 2025, the event “Chat with Parents – Right moment, Right Understanding” took place at the VinUni Dormitory, welcoming over 100 parents and students. Organized by the VinUni Community as part of Discovery Day 2025, this event served as a space for connection, listening, and reflection between families and the university, at the very beginning of students’ transition into university life.

There is no fixed template for what it means to be a parent when your child enters university. But being present at the right moments, understanding without overstepping, and listening with intention, these are invaluable contributions to a student’s growth. The spirit of “Chat with Parents” was built around that very idea.

During the program, heartfelt sharing from experienced voices, including Ms. Tran Mai Anh, Mr. Phan Van Hieu, and student Phan Tran Ha Linh, all of whom have accompanied their children through this very journey, offered not only practical insights, but deeply personal reflections. These stories helped equip new families with the confidence and emotional grounding to better support their children in this new chapter.

In addition to peer sharing, the open dialogue with Ms. Nguyen Hong Ha, representing VinUni, provided essential information on academic programs, student support systems, mental wellness services, residential life, and career development, reinforcing the university’s strong commitment to liberal education and personalized learning.

At the end of the sharing session, parents received a booklet of the VinUni Parents’ Handbook, not merely as an informational resource, but as a symbolic gesture of VinUni’s commitment to walk alongside families and students, built on a foundation of trust, respect, and holistic development.

The event ended with more grounded perspectives, lighter hearts, and a stronger sense of connection. “Chat with Parents” marked the beginning of a long journey, where family and university stand together in supporting students as they grow into compassionate and courageous global citizens.
